Silver Tray + Chalkboard...oh and Russian Tea!

Happy Monday everyone. I am slightly under the weather here in GA, but trying to hold it together.  This past weekend MR.P and I headed to Nashville to see our friends the McHughs.  It was a fun weekend together.  Losts of relaxing and just hanging out.  But before we started relaxing we headed to see Tyrone Wells in concert.  He is one of Matt's favorites.  I definitely enjoyed that concert!  Different than most.  I'm not much of a concert fan, but MR.P loves them so I am trying to go as often as we can.  Maybe I'll learn to LOVE them like he does.

Once we got back from Nashville MR.P gave me strict instructions to just rest and not to do any projects around the house (he was going to the falcons game!)  That was tough, but I didn't think sitting on the couch, watching a movie, and doing a little painting was much of a project so I went ahead with this one:)  I got the idea from Tales and Trails a few days ago.  Again, I already had all of the supplies so it was free.

- Chalk board paint
- Silver Tray
- Small paint Roller
- Blue paint tape

I started by taping around the corners then went to town!  It was super easy.  Definitely took NO effort out of my sick body.  I had to put a few coats of chalkboard paint on it though, because let's just be honest...silver wasn't meant to be painted ;)

Here is the final product!  I placed it on a plate stand and think it turned out just fine.

Also, when I am sick I love anything warm.  Diet coke just doesn't cut it during the 2 weeks that my colds last.  So I decided that I would make some Russian Tea (actually, i'll get all the stuff today at the store!).  Not sure if anyone has had this stuff before, but it's my absolute favorite!  It makes me think of my mom:)  Soo yummy!  Here's the recipe!

INGREDIENTS
1 cup instant tea powder
2 cups orange-flavored drink mix (e.g. Tang is what I use)
1 (3 ounce) package powdered lemonade mix
2 cups white sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

DIRECTIONS

1.In a large bowl, combine instant tea powder, orange drink mix, lemonade powder, sugar, cinnamon and cloves. Mix thoroughly. Store in a sealed jar.
2.To use, mix 3 to 4 tablespoons of mix with 1 cup hot or cold water. Adjust to taste.

Just make sure to make it in your favorite travel mug so you can take it with you!  I don't have one:(  Maybe I'll have to get one!

Oh I love your silver tray!! It looks really cute as a chalkboard.

You may already know this but.....to condition the chalkboard turn a piece of chalk on it's side and rub all over your chalkboard. This helps to keep the paint from chipping. I learned this lesson the hard way!

That tea sounds yummy! It's a perfect day here in GA to curl up with a hot cup of tea. I hope you feel better soon.

You know Abby I did know that, BUT I forgot!! I'll have to do that when I get home from work. Sadly I can't curl up with a cup of hot tea until I get home from work:( I am supposed to have a bible study tonight, but too sick. Yuck!
